Disposal & Composting Guide for PHA Products
What To Do When Playtime's Over 🌱
Your pup loved their roller toy, and now it's worn out. To properly dispose of it you can
Option 1: Send It Back to Us 📦
We're launching a take-back program where you can mail us your worn toys. We'll compost them properly and give you a discount on your next purchase!
Coming early 2026.

Option 2: Compost It at Home 🏡
Got a compost bin? Perfect! Here's what to do:
1. Break it into smaller pieces - A compost grinder will be best for this
3. Toss it in your compost - Mix with your usual brown and green materials
4. Wait 6-12 months - It'll break down naturally!
The result? Nutrient-rich compost for your garden. 🌻
Option 3: Industrial Composting 🏭
Many cities accept PHA products in their composting programs. Google or contact your local waste management to see if they accept biodegradable plastics.
Industrial facilities break it down even faster - usually ~3 months or less!
What NOT to Do ⚠️
❌ Don't put it in plastic recycling - Unfortunately there isn't enough PHA out there for recyclers to deal with properly just yet
❌ Don't flush it - PHA would break down in some wastewater treatment plants, but will clog your pipes on the way
✅ Regular trash is okay - If you can't compost, it can biodegrade in a landfill (though composting is way better!)
Why This Matters
When you compost PHA products, you're:
✅ Creating nutrient-rich soil for gardens
✅ Keeping waste out of landfills
✅ Completing the circle from farm waste → toy → compost → soil
✅ Showing other pet parents that sustainable choices are easy!
